Solar Eclipse Day 2017

August 21, 2017 marked an exciting day for our class - a solar eclipse!  Because of our location in the United States, we only saw an 87% eclipse, but it was fun to watch the moon pass in front of the sun with our cool glasses! :)

Starting this week, we have homework in Language Arts class.  Students should read 30 minutes a day for a total of 150 minutes during the week.  Please make sure students are reading at least 3 nights a week, even if they meet the 150 minute requirement on the first day.  Just like eating at a buffet doesn't mean you can go the rest of the week without eating, reading all 150 minutes on one day and reading nothing for six days after will not improve reading skills! :)  Title and number of minutes should be written in the planner and signed/initialed by an adult.  See photo below for an example:

Students are loving the use of our Chromebooks so far, and we are getting a feel for navigating Google Classroom.  I'm excited to see what blossoms from this piloting opportunity!
